Astragon Development will close by the end of November, Astragon confirmed in a statement to GamesWirtschaft. The publisher says Seafarer: The Ship Sim will receive updates until the studio ends operations, leaving players without a clear plan for later fixes.

Astragon says it is winding down the studio’s work and will meet its existing contracts and obligations. Astragon Development made Seafarer: The Ship Sim, which launched in September.

That update window matters while Seafarer still has known multiplayer issues. Its Oct. 12 patch notes say multiplayer clients may miss mission rewards, and bulk cargo deliveries may fail to finish in multiplayer. Players can take on those mission and cargo jobs solo or with a crew of up to four, according to Seafarer’s Steam page.

Astragon bought the studio in 2023, when it was called Independent Arts Software, and changed its name to Astragon Development in May 2025.

What we don’t know

Astragon has not given a date for the final Seafarer update or said who, if anyone, will handle fixes after the studio closes.

That’s the whole story. Back to the main quest.
